Ahrefs

Best for: Existing Ahrefs subscribers doing periodic internal-link audits

Ahrefs' Site Audit reports orphan pages and internal link distribution, and its Internal Link Opportunities report pairs source pages with target pages based on keywords the source already ranks for. It does not insert anything — you implement manually — but the data is strong if you already pay for Ahrefs.

Google Search Console

Best for: Everyone, as the free baseline

Google Search Console's free Links report lists your most-linked internal pages and the top linking pages. It is inventory, not advice — no suggestions, no automation — but it is the data source several paid tools build on, and every site should start here.

Screaming Frog SEO Spider

Best for: Technical SEOs who want raw link-graph data

Screaming Frog's SEO Spider is the standard desktop crawler; it exports the complete internal link graph (inlinks, outlinks, anchors, depth) and finds orphans when connected to Search Console and Analytics. It is the most flexible way to analyze links and the least automated way to build them. Free up to 500 URLs; paid licences are per user, per year.

Search Atlas (OTTO)

Best for: Agencies wanting a suite where linking is one of many automated fixes

Search Atlas is a full SEO suite whose OTTO agent applies changes to your site automatically — technical fixes, on-page updates, and internal linking included. Internal linking is not a standalone product here; you are buying the platform. Plans start at $99/month with a 7-day trial.

Semrush

Best for: Existing Semrush subscribers wanting audit-level visibility

Semrush's Site Audit includes an Internal Linking thematic report covering orphan pages, crawl depth, and over- or under-linked pages. Like Ahrefs it is analysis only. Semrush restructured its plans in 2026 (SEO, Starter, Pro+, Advanced), so older pricing quotes elsewhere are stale.

Sitebulb is a desktop (and cloud) crawler that turns internal link analysis into prioritized hints and visual crawl maps, making it easier to act on than raw exports. It is analysis only, with a 14-day trial of Pro features.
